There are a lot of really off the wall sentences about drunken parrots and dirty weasels getting into all sorts of hijinx. The course does make use of a number of fun sentences. I kept expecting that they were on the verge of introducing some new grammar, but it never came. You learn the present tense, but no imperfect, no future, no perfect forms, and no subjunctives (except, weirdly, the subjunctive for volo, which is taught many lessons before you actually learn the present tense form). It should probably be about three times as long, and I hope that they are planning on expanding it pretty considerably, because it just doesn't in any way compare to the skill-trees for languages like German or French. I already know Latin grammar, but thought it would be fun to go through the tree and see what I thought, because I've enjoyed using Duolingo for other languages in the past.įirst, the course is very short. I just completed the Latin skill tree, and thought I might share some thoughts.
